President’s Pen – November 2023
As we close the books on an incredibly successful TFRW convention, I am humbled and energized by the passion, dedication, and vision exhibited during our three days together in Irving. Throughout the convention, we celebrated our achievements and charted the course for our future. It was an honor to welcome our new officers and I look forward to watching TFRW grow and succeed under President Zenia Warren’s leadership.
Our convention would not have been as successful without Convention Chair Cindy Burkett...

TFRW Woman of Distinction – October 2023
Ms. Tommie Worthy of Avalon is truly one of the hardest-working and most dedicated civic-minded women in Ellis County. A banker by trade, this active lady who is about to turn 88, is all about community service — always focused on finding ways to help others to make a difference in the lives of the citizens around her.
Tommie’s main thrust of activism has been with Ellis County Republican Women. She joined this meaningful organization in 1999 and became seriously involved...

President’s Pen – October 2023
I returned home late last night from the NFRW Convention and what an exciting time it was. YOUR hard work and accomplishments were made evident as TFRW received at least one award in EVERY category. Well done ladies! I can’t tell you how many presidents complimented us on our fundraising success, newsletter and website, membership numbers, volunteer hours and legislative activities. TFRW was recognized for the following:
The Betty Heitman Award for State Excellence:
Texas was one of only 25 clubs...

Mary is an active member of the Texas Federation of Republican Women and is serving her second term on the Board as SD 14 District Director and Member-At-Large. She served as...

President’s Pen – September 2023
Convention season is upon us, and the next few weeks will be busier than ever. I look forward to gathering with conservative friends during the NFRW Convention September 28th – October 1st, and our TFRW Convention October 12 – 14th.
Following up on my August article, I am focusing on the “Iron Sharpens Iron” concept shown in our convention video. While “Iron Sharpens Iron” is a simple statement, it resonates deeply the ideas of leadership, personal growth, and the pursuit of...

TFRW Woman of Distinction – July 2023
Jimmy Carter’s presidency lit an intense interest in politics for Connie. At the time, there were no GOP state-wide office holders in Texas. In 1980, Connie walked her neighborhood in support of Ronald Reagan for President and realized that assisting in block-walks and phone-banks was a way of making a difference. She began volunteering for most county-wide and state-wide campaigns (too many to list!) as well as becoming active with the Republican Women of Gregg County (RWGC) and the Gregg...
