Woman of Distinction – June 2024
Patty Castillo serves as the TFRW Awards Chair and is the Immediate Past President of McLennan County Republican Women. Her experience in the financial services industry, and as a consultant for a multinational firm, equipped her with valuable skills that she now applies to her volunteer and political work following her retirement. She and her family have always been conservative, even when living in Colombia, where she was born. Because of this, she is especially cognizant of how fortunate we are to live in this great country and that we must work not to lose it. Patty got involved in politics when she was living in California, and a friend asked her to go to lunch once a month with the Bakersfield Republican Women’s Club. Well, a monthly luncheon turned into being asked to be on the board and ultimately becoming the First Vice President and chairing the club’s most successful fundraiser, as well as working on President Trump’s first campaign. Fortunately, in 2017, her husband’s job brought them back to Texas, where they had always wanted to settle. She immediately sought out the McLennan County Republican Women’s Club in Waco, as she knew that was where she would meet like-minded women. She was President for four years, growing the club from 100 to over 300 members, and is proud of all the groundbreaking work the club has done. One of the highlights was hosting the club’s most successful fundraiser, which allowed them to financially support many candidates and place Vote Republican billboards around the county for the 2020 and 2022 elections. She believes the key to getting members engaged is finding their passion and motivations and providing avenues to work and thrive and become a force for our causes. Patty and her husband, Ivan, love to travel but feel blessed to call Waco home. She is eager to work during this election cycle and the upcoming legislative session to Keep Texas Red!
