Mary Heffernan has been a member of Northwest Austin Republican Women since 2016, although she first joined as a member in the 1990s and then re-joined in 2016. She served her club as Fundraising Chair, Americanism Chair, 2nd VP Programs, and Recording Secretary, and also has served on numerous committees.

Mary is an active member of the Texas Federation of Republican Women and is serving her second term on the Board as SD 14 District Director and Member-At-Large. She served as the Chair of the 33rd Biennial TFRW Convention in 2021 and was awarded the first TFRW Elizabeth Cady Stanton District Director Award at that convention.

She is a member of the National Federation of Republican Women and was recognized as a National Volunteer in Texas by the Trump campaign and the NFR effort for campaign call activity for Mike Garcia (CA), and other related national call campaigns.

Mary currently works to support Texas VEP efforts making more than 40,000 calls to help meet the minimal goal of 100,000 registered Republicans in Texas. Fall plans include organizing volunteers to advocate for local and State Republican candidates by supporting their campaign efforts. She also worked with representatives of the Abbott campaign for SD 14.

Mary is a Travis County Precinct Chair, a member of the Nominations Committee, and was recognized in 2019 as the SD 14 Volunteer of the Year by the State Party. She is a Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR), and has been a Travis County Polling Judge and worker for seven years, as well as a National 2020 Republican Delegate in CD17 Texas.

She also volunteers with other organizations and currently is President of the Balcones Women’s Association who facilitates the BCCWA Scholarship Foundation which awards high school scholarships to seniors from two RRISD schools.

She has been married to Larry for 45 years and they have three children and five grandchildren.
