TFRW Woman of Distinction – May 2023
Sharon Edwards’ fascination with politics began long before she was old enough to vote. It began when she found an “I Like Ike” button at the age of nine which she proudly wore and made her feel important. She has been an active volunteer in state and federal campaigns for years, and engaged in several Get-Out-the-Vote efforts. She has held many board positions in Austin Republican Women including the position of President of the club. One of her proudest achievements was recruiting and training 32 of her club members as Voter Deputy Registrars.
Sharon has worked for two Texas governors and was a registered Texas lobbyist for many years. Her work included lobbying the Texas delegation in Washington, D.C., on health care issues. Her driving force is a focus on protecting our Constitutional rights and freedoms, and electing candidates who will fight for conservative values.
Sharon is a widow and lives in Austin, Texas. She loves her annual mission trips, and is a member of the Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary Advisory Board. The beach is her favorite destination.
