Teresa Spears is our TFRW Woman of Distinction for June 2020.

It is our honor to present to you Teresa Spears as this month’s TFRW Woman of Distinction.

Teresa has spent more than thirty-five years of hands on experience in Texas politics and government, including numerous conservative candidates, elected officials and causes.   She became committed to making a difference at an early age after she won a citizenship contest and represented the state of Arkansas in Washington DC in her early teens.  She is a graduate of Arkansas State University.

Her extensive involvement in TFRW, NFRW and Republican politics generally has spanned the entire gambit of activities.  She has held numerous offices, chaired many committees, and served as grassroots chairman for numerous candidates during this time, including but not limited to TFRW Ten Outstanding Republican Woman Award 2000-2001; TFRW District Director; TFRW PAC Chairman and Treasurer; attended many state and national conventions as a delegate or alternate; served on many convention committees; served as NFRW VIP/Protocol Chairman; National Finance Chair for 2001 NFRW Convention; and instructor in Campaign Management Schools for both TFRW and NFRW.

Teresa served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to Governor Rick Perry from 2007-2015, where she was top advisor on all governmental appointments to state boards, commissions, task forces, and advisory committees.  She was Chief Inaugural Officer for Texas Inaugural Committee in 2007 and 2011. During her tenure in the Governor’s office, she instituted, managed and expanded a statewide grassroots network for all 254 counties in Texas, and developed and maintained multiple data bases for thousands of volunteers, supporters and contributors.

In 2015, she began an independent consulting firm for political organizations, elected officials, PACs, and many other individuals and endeavors, and that continues to the present date.  Teresa has a proven track record as a negotiator, problem solver and team builder, utilizing her excellent writing and communications skills.

She is married to Austin attorney Franklin Scott Spears, Jr.   They have one son and 2 grandchildren.

Her hobbies include organizing trips to the Caribbean for family and friends, creating custom photo books for family and friends, and reading historical novels.  She is currently an active member of the Canyon Lake Republican Women and TFRW Patron.

Hats off to you, Teresa; you are definitely a TFRW Woman of Distinction!
