President’s Pen – June 2020

President’s Message

I am just elated to see Texas opening up again. My empathy for the lady in the 1980s Mervyn’s campaign “Open, Open, Open” has bordered on paranormal. So, I am positively giddy to see businesses operating again, children out playing again, and families taking control of their lives and livelihoods again.

WHAT COVID-19 HAS TAUGHT US:

  1. Wash your hands…with soap!
  2. We cannot depend on foreign governments for necessities— like medicine and medical equipment. We will start “Buying American” again, and that’s great for our economy.
  3. Leftists would prefer a U.S. depression over a Conservative win in 2020.
  4. Spending time with our family and friends is a blessing not to be taken for granted.
  5. Our freedom and liberty can be easily taken.

I’m happy to report that COVID-19 didn’t slow our members down. We adjusted our plans to include virtual meetings, training and campaigning, and have been successful on every front. Our partnerships with the RNC/NFRW, RPT/VEP, Trump and Abbott campaigns, and LI have given our members the tools, training, and opportunities to make a significant difference in 2020 elections. Members have registered tens of thousands of voters in Texas and helped to elect Republicans in both California and Wisconsin. Look for the Special Election shout-out later in the TFRW Today June issue!

While campaigns are great, our membership needs some love. We cannot depend on having “in person” meetings or membership drives to renew our past members. Please take advantage of this time to call your past members to check on them and ask them to renew. We need every Republican woman in Texas to win in 2020.

VENUE CHANGE: Our June 12-13th Board of Directors meetings have had to switch to the Sheraton Georgetown (book your room HERE). If you had a booking under the TFRW block at the Renaissance, your reservation will be automatically transferred. If you did not, or if you booked under a different promotional code, you will need to cancel and rebook. Our room block is under Texas Federation of Republican Women, is still $149 per night, and will be open until June 9th. To provide adequate social distance, we are capping the meeting at 100 registrations, so REGISTER and book your room quickly. Also, the hotel has removed all coffee makers and refrigerators from the rooms but you can request to have them replaced by calling the hotel directly at 737-444-2700.

Thank you again for the honor of serving you. Together we will make Texas stronger and more conservative than ever.

For Texas and The Country!
