President’s Pen – December 2020

President’s Message

I Am Thankful…

for you—the Texas Federation of Republican Women. When our beloved state needed an army, you were there. You rolled up your sleeves and went to work. You walked, you phoned, you wrote, and you posted… you saved Texas.

TFRW had three essential objectives for this election cycle; defend our majority in the Texas legislature, re-elect Senator John Cornyn, and deliver Texas for President Trump. We were VICTORIOUS on every score. Despite the 80+ million dollars that was poured into our state from coastal elites, celebrities, and seemingly every Dem PAC in creation, TFRW showed up and kept Texas RED. We DID maintain our House majority, Senator Cornyn defeated his opponent by a huge margin, and President Trump won seven more counties than he did in 2016. These solid wins mean that we can look forward to a legislative session where our conservative values will be a priority and that the lines for Texas’ Congressional Districts will be drawn fairly.

In case you missed it, there was a very good opinion article in the Wall Street Journal that said the Democrats did everything “right” but still lost Texas. One of the reasons cited was that they did not account for the women of TFRW. Of course, WE know the power of our organization. One woman defending her family is far more effective than ten hired field reps. TFRW has been a secret weapon for Republican candidates for more than 60 years, but this year, our partnership with both Senator Cornyn and the RPT Victory Engagement Project made us a tactical weapon with laser precision. I hope that the model used this election cycle will be replicated and fine-tuned, because our work for future generations is just beginning.

As I write this, my “future generation” (my three-year-old grandson), sleeps in my lap. It’s times like this that I am acutely reminded what I am most thankful for and also, what I am fighting for. I hope that you were able to share Thanksgiving with your loved ones and/or have plans to be together during this Christmas season. With all that we have to do every day to save our Republic, time spent with family is both a salve to the spirit and the best motivation to continue.

From my home to yours, Merry Christmas. May God bless you with love, joy and the peace of knowing that the best is yet to come!

For Texas and The Country!
