Woman of Distinction – October 2024
Judge Echo Hutson was elected in 2023 to County Court at Law No. 4 in Montgomery County, Texas. Her court oversees misdemeanor criminal cases, and two specialty courts: Domestic Violence Court and Mental Health Treatment Court. She has dedicated her career to protecting and serving Montgomery County citizens, initially as a prosecuting attorney, and now through her role as Judge.
Judge Hutson was instrumental in creating Montgomery County’s Domestic Violence Division and Domestic Violence Specialty Court, which has been recognized as a national top-performing specialty court. As Chief of the Domestic Violence Division, she specialized in strangulation cases, and implemented multi-disciplinary callout teams for high-lethality domestic violence investigations. She developed county-wide procedures for the investigation and prosecution of all domestic violence cases, trained and educated law enforcement, attorneys, victim advocates, and community members as a subject matter expert on Domestic Violence.
Echo is a member of the Liberty Belles Republican Women club. She loves to speak and educate on matters involving domestic violence and mental health issues in the courts and criminal justice systems. She is the founder and host of two annual awareness events: Flowers on the Lake, and Montgomery County: Anchored in Unity.
Echo and her husband have two sons, the oldest son being a Marine Veteran who lives in Virginia. She also performs in her band, Vinnie and the Montage, with her husband and some friends.
