Maria GG Perez is known as GG, which is short for her maiden name. Generations of her family have called South Texas their home. Life along the banks of the Rio Grande has been challenging but at the same time rich in culture and family heritage.

Her father instilled in her a love for learning and encouraged her to become a first generation college graduate. Her love of numbers and working with teens was a major factor in her becoming a Middle School Math Teacher. She worked at United Independent School District in Laredo for 30 years before she semi-retired in 2021. She currently works as a part-time Math Teacher for teens who have special needs.

GG served on the Executive Board of the Webb County Republican Party. She was Secretary and then Vice-Chair. As Vice-Chair, she recruited patriots and organized the Election Administration Committee. She was also the fundraiser organizer for the Lincoln-Reagan Dinner in 2023. And, she is a Precinct Chair for Precinct 311.

Her accomplishments led her to be hired as Field Organizer for the Republican Party of Texas during Election 2022. She was a Delegate to the 2024 RPT Convention.

She serves as President of the Gateway City Republican Women’s Club who she helped organize. She is a member of the Laredo Area Retired School Employees Association and she teaches financial literacy classes to local students. She has recently been invited to join the Laredo Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Sorority for Women Educators.

As a single Mom, she is blessed with three daughters, four grandchildren and Lolly, the family Husky.
