TFRW Woman of Distinction – July 2021

TFRW Blog

TFRW proudly honors Dr. Donna Campbell, SD25, as our Woman of Distinction for July.

Sen. Donna Campbell, M.D. is a board certified emergency room physician and proud parent of four adopted daughters. She lives in New Braunfels and represents Senate District 25, a six-county District which includes parts of San Antonio and Austin. She was the first female to Chair the Senate Veteran Affairs and Border Security Committees. She currently serves on the Senate Finance, Business and Commerce, Senate Education, Senate Health and Human Services, and Senate Intergovernmental Relations, and has most recently been appointed to serve on the special State Affairs Redistricting Committee.

She has received top honors for her legislative accomplishments from the NRA, Texas Alliance for Life, Texas Values, and the Texas Veterans Commission. She has been recognized as a Top Courageous Conservative four sessions in a row by the Texas Conservative Coalition and named a Courageous Defender of Life for her hard work in pro-life legislation. She was also designated as a Fighter for Free Enterprise by the Texas Association of Business.

Her legislative priorities reflect her passion for a good business climate, limited government, the sanctity of life, and defense of our military. In 2012, she became just the fifteenth woman ever elected to serve in the Texas Senate.

During the recent 87th Legislative Session, Sen. Campbell carried and passed significant legislation, including the Lone Star Infrastructure Protection Act to secure our infrastructure; several bills to help our veterans; a bill to ensure parents have access to voluntary child ID kits through their school districts; SB 20, which allows travelers to transfer their firearm from their vehicle to their hotel rooms; and SB 1168, which protects Texans within ETJs from municipal fines or fees.

A proud woman of faith, Senator Campbell has volunteered with Christian Eye Ministries and performed hundreds of eye surgeries in the West African nation of Ghana. In her spare time, she is an avid hiker and runner.

TFRW congratulates our long-time member and supporter on her recent appointment as President Pro Tempore of the Texas Senate!
