Woman of Distinction – August 2026
Daryl started her Republican journey as a child when she knocked on doors with her mother in Encino, California. In college she was a member of Los Angeles Young Republicans and Young Americans for Freedom where she served on the Board of Directors. Daryl attended the 1964 National Republican Convention, became a “Golden Girl,” and worked for Barry Goldwater.
Daryl spent the next 15 years working on many Republican Campaigns, notably Ronald Reagan for Governor and for President and Richard Nixon’s Presidential Campaign. Upon moving to Ventura County, she became involved in the local school board, park district, and Thousand Oaks City Council campaigns. She supported the California Republican Party, the Ventura Republican Women, the California Federation of Republican Women, and the National Federation of Republican Women. The West Lake Village Republican Women was the last club in California where she served as President and in several other capacities before moving to Texas. She was granted a lifetime membership upon her departure.
Prior to scrapbooks being digital and compiled by First Vice Presidents, Daryl, while serving as Historian for both NFRW and TFRW, created beautiful scrapbooks which served as lasting memories for each President. Daryl’s scrapbooks contain special pictures and keepsakes from each Presidents’ term. A scrapbook created for one NFRW President was so large it had to be divided into two books.
Daryl moved to Texas ten years ago and immediately got involved politically at the local and state level while continuing work with the NFRW. She joined Conner Harrington Republican Women where she served as President and continues to work on several committees. She has served TFRW as Deputy President, Historian, and currently serves as Time-keeper. She has been honored with the TFRW Tribute to Women Award and the 10 Outstanding Award.
She and her husband Don have been married for 51 years and have a son and a daughter who are both politically involved in the state of Texas. Daryl values her relationship with people she has met along the way. She finds joy in sharing her experiences with others, particularly those who share her political views. Daryl is known for her poise, graciousness, and pleasant demeanor.
