TFRW August Woman of Distinction
President’s Message
Mona is a graduate of Baylor University, with a degree in Education and Foreign Languages, and accompanied her husband, Colonel (ret.) Bill Bailey, around the world for 30 years during his Air Force career. Upon his retirement, she went to work for Electronic Data Systems (EDS), and retired from there in 1999 as an Interdivisional Relationship Manager.
She immediately became active in the Tarrant County Republican Party upon her retirement, calling TFRW to find out the nearest RW Club! Since then, she has been busy with the following:
- Precinct Chair and Election Judge – 2002 – Present
- President, Metroplex RW – 2004-2005 (Legislative Chair prior to being President)
- SREC Committeewoman, SD 12 – 2006-2007
- Appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to Real Estate Research Committee – 2008-2012
- TFRW Convention Program Chair – 2011
- 10 Outstanding Women recipient – 2011
- Fundraiser for SD 9 Convention every two years since 2014
- President, Tarrant Star RW – 2015-2017 (Also served as Program Chair and Membership Chair)
- Currently serving as Tarrant Star RW Program Chair, since 2017
- Tarrant County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner Chair – 2013-2018
- 1st Vice Chair of Fundraising, Tarrant County GOP – 2016-2018
- Member of RPT’s Candidate Resource Committee as of 2018
- Recently appointed Chair of Finance Committee, Tarrant County GOP
- Delegate to nearly every TFRW Convention since 2001 (she had to skip one)
- Delegate to several NFRW Conventions
- Delegate to every RPT Convention since 2000
- Delegate to National Republican Convention in 2008
She has helped many candidates over the years with fundraising, block walking, and phone banking as well.
Active also in the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature since 2011:
- State Affairs Committee Chair, 2011 – 2015
- Speaker Pro Tem since 2015
- Does public speaking to local senior groups about TSHL
Other community activities:
- Chair of Leadership Team at City Point United Methodist Church in North Richland Hills; and teaches an adult Sunday School class there one quarter of each year
- United Way of Tarrant County board member since 2014; and Co-Chair of their Public Policy Committee since 2016
- Member of NE Senior Community Forum, past Program Chair
- Member of NE Tarrant County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Delta Delta
- Member of Baylor Women’s Network in Tarrant County
