President’s Pen – June 2026
The Primary has finally come to an end. To be honest, in my 30 years of Texas politics, this was one of the hardest and ugliest Primaries ever. Not everyone’s candidate of choice won. That is the nature of politics, someone must lose. Wounds are deep and relationships have been fractured. However, I encourage you to be an example. It is time to put the Primary behind us and move on in a positive direction. We cannot lose sight of the goal: Getting out the vote in November and electing Republicans.
The ticket is set; we must now support it. When you hear someone say they will not vote for “X” Republican candidate, remind them that a Democrat is worse! We are in a fight for our country and our values. Encourage each other, lift each other up, be the leader our Party needs. We are where the RED begins!
So how can YOU make a difference? We have begun work on the Voter Engagement Project. Our VEP Chair, Jennifer Frederick, is doing a fantastic job putting volunteers together. In just a few short weeks, they have already made 10,000 phone calls! We need many volunteers to reach our goal of one million calls and 150,000 republicans registered. This is an easy project that you can do from the air-conditioned comfort of your home this summer! Make 10 calls or make a 1,000 – it is on your time schedule and is one of the most valuable things YOU can do for Texas in November. See Jennifer’s article on how to volunteer.
Then in July, our VP of Campaign Activities, Gail Teegarden, and our Victory Chair, Mary Jane Avery, will announce our Victory Strategy for November. We’ll have days of action, block-walking, texting and calling opportunities, and our Adopt-A-Candidate program will be back. There will even be some contests and prizes! First up is learning to use the Abbott Impact App. The Abbott Campaign will be at our July Board Meeting to teach us how to use this amazing app on your phone.
For those of you attending the Republican Party of Texas Convention, have safe travels. Please maintain decorum and make TFRW members the example. If there is someone you don’t like, please do not “boo,” just be silent. Silence says more than anything.
Finally, I hope you’ll be able to join us for America’s 250th Birthday Party during the July Board Meeting in Georgetown. This will be a grand ol’ American time with hamburgers, cake, games, and prizes. You won’t want to miss it!
