President’s Pen – February 2021

President’s Message

Have you ever attended a Kentucky Derby or other high stakes race? Everyone is dressed to perfection, the air is full of chatter, electric with energy, and then “BANG!” The main event is off and running! It’s a beautiful sight. Sorry ladies, in this analogy we aren’t wearing the pretty hats… we’re the horses.

2021 began in breathless anticipation of a last minute victory… and then a resolute determination to right the wrongs we saw perpetrated upon our Republic. TFRW is motivated, energized, and focused. We will lock shields and protect our way of life here in Texas. Thankfully, we have the ability to create real, substantive change, but we must ACT! No more looking back.

First, we train. Whether you want to be a stronger leader, a more effective communicator, or are ready to run for elected office, TFRW has training designed for you. Our Legislative Day events will teach you how to build relationships, testify at hearings, and create correspondence that influences the reader. Our Candidate Development School and Campaign Management Schools will prepare you for the 2022 campaign season whatever your level of involvement. As you know, next year’s campaign season starts now. The Dems are more determined than ever to take control of Texas and once again we are called upon to lead the charge in its defense.

Next, we engage. It’s vital that we activate ALL of our members on our legislative priorities. I hope that you have been participating in Friday’s weekly call with Texas Committeewoman Toni Anne Dashiell and Representative Stephanie Klick on Election Integrity. We are currently working on a similar call that will focus on Education—specifically, returning civics to public education. These calls will continue throughout the legislative session and include weekly action items. Finally, watch your email for updates on redistricting. The other team is showing up at these hearings in overwhelming numbers. We need to do the same. We are only influential when we show up!

New memberships indicate that women all over Texas echo our resolve to protect our state but we need your help renewing last year’s members! Please contact your club membership chair and ask how you can help. 2020 members MUST renew by March 1st if they wish to serve as convention delegates or alternates. Also, later in this newsletter you will find a complete listing of Award contacts. If you’re interested in serving on an Award Committee, please submit a letter of interest. The Chair will let you know if her committee still has openings.

We are “Off to the Races,” and I thank you again for the honor of serving you. We are empowered women empowering others, and together we will continue to make Texas the leader of principled, conservative governance.

For Texas and The Country!
