President’s Pen – April 2023

President’s Message

I am thrilled that April 2023 is here! It is a time for renewal, growth, and hope that can be felt in the air. Wherever I look, there is evidence of new beginnings. The bluebonnets are spectacular, the days are lighter and brighter and the budding trees against the canopy of a beautiful blue sky take my breath away.

For TFRW, April 2023 means preparations are ramping up for our 34th Biennial Convention. I hope you love the convention logo and the strength that “Iron Ladies, Forging the Future” represents. Cindy Burkett and her convention team are creating a one-of-a-kind convention experience you won’t want to miss. Be watching for details about speakers, workshops and special guests coming soon.

Being a convention year, it is even more important that every club be laser-focused on renewing members and recruiting new members. If you did not see Vanessa LaFranco’s Zoom on Membership, you can view it HERE. Her ideas, if implemented, are certain to increase membership and strengthen your clubs.

We launched a New Member Survey this week that was sent to the 1,676 new members who have joined our organization in 2023. The preliminary results show that 61% of our new members joined their club because a friend told them about TFRW. I have spoken before about the power of simply inviting women to an event, and our survey results show how effective an invitation can be in recruiting new members. We must all continue to reach out and invite women to attend a club meeting or event to grow our clubs.

Inspired by the women who came before us, the vision for TFRW is clear as we continue to “forge the future” and empower women in unprecedented ways.

I hope each of you will be able to celebrate Easter or Passover with loved ones and enjoy the hope, joy, peace and bountiful blessings of this special season. Thank you for the honor of serving you,

Kit Whitehill
