President’s Message – July 2019
Keep Your Sleeves Rolled Up!
I take full responsibility for the delay in publishing and distributing the July 2019 edition of the Texas Federation of Republican Women’s President’s Newsletter. Currently, the TFRW is involved in numerous efforts around the state to keep Texas red and submitting my PNL article slipped my mind. In addition to keeping the state red, TFRW has a lot housekeeping! Besides planning our fantastic convention at Moody Gardens this October (alongside Sherry Peterson and Debbie Roan), the TFRW is hard at work getting awards submissions and delegates to the National Federation of Republican Women’s convention in Indianapolis and making sure that all membership is accurately submitted, which is no small task. The TFRW has submitted over 2,000 new names just in the last three months!
These are very exciting times for the members of the TFRW; we are at the epicenter of strategizing and executing a plan to ensure that President Donald J. Trump stays in office and the great state of Texas remains in level-headed, Republican hands.
Senator John Cornyn, Steve Munisteri, and John Jackson gave our organization over 154,000 names of women who, potentially, could join our growing army of Texas Republican women. That list was divided, given to District Directors who further divided the list, and sent to all club Presidents. Our fabulous, hardworking club presidents have been contacting these ladies. The feedback has been very encouraging, and some clubs have seen an increase in membership in these few short weeks!
Karl Rove hosted a Patron Event at the Dogwood in Austin last month to roll out a new voter registration initiative, and the TFRW is at the heart of the planning process! We are going to register and engage new Republican voters across the state!
The Republican National Committee announced its Texas team, led by State Director, Taylor Maddox. The TFRW has already planned and participated in the statewide watch party during the President’s Orlando announcement to run for a second term. Our second TFRW project will be to collect ballot signatures to make sure Donald Trump’s name is on the ballot in Texas. Be on the lookout for Calls to Action from Taylor and his team!
Cat Parks, Chair of the RPT Candidate Recruitment, coordinated efforts with the TFRW, RPT, and TRCCA to host Campaign Management Schools in key locations across the state. The coordinated efforts between the RNC, RPT, TRCAA, YRs, and TFRW are endless, there is nothing that we cannot accomplish when we join forces and resources. This all means more work for the members of the TFRW, but isn’t that why we are members of the largest, most influential Republican Women’s organization in Texas? You have to earn those stripes, and by the time November 2020 rolls around, we will, once again, humbly say we made history happen. The members of the TFRW are the driving force in keeping Texas Republican and getting and keeping Donald J. Trump in the White House four more years! Keep those sleeves rolled up!
Karen C. Newton, President
