STATEMENT ON DEFUNDING POLICE
(AUSTIN, TX) — Glynis Chester, President of the Texas Federation of Republican Women (TFRW), issued the following statement in response to Governor Abbott’s proposed legislation discouraging Texas cities from defunding the police:
“On behalf of TFRW’s 160 clubs and more than 10,000 members statewide, I support Gov. Abbott, Lt. Gov. Patrick and Speaker Bonnen 100 percent in their efforts to protect Texans from extreme far-left efforts to defund police departments in Texas. As Texas’ population continues to skyrocket, local elected officials should invest in their law enforcement agencies that protect Texas families, not waste precious taxpayer money on reimagining budget policies.”
The Texas Federation of Republican Women, founded in 1955, has a statewide membership of 10,000 and more than 160 constituent clubs.
