Carmen Dusek Appointed to
the 51st District Court

TFRW is proud to announce the Appointment of Carmen Symes Dusek to Symes Dusek, 51st
Judicial District Court.
the 51st District Court by Governor Greg Abbott.
She comes to this office with impressive professional credentials. She has been the Senior Counsel with Jackson Walker,
L.L.P. since 2017. As Special Counsel, her responsibility has been to, “Represent individuals, businesses, and organizations
in disputed or litigated civil trial and appellate matters pending in State Courts. Primary Practice areas include: General
Civil Litigation, Agricultural Litigation, Insurance and Defense, Personal Injury Law, Premises Liability, and Family Law, and
representation of children’s rights in CPS cases.”
Prior to her work as Senior Counsel, in Carmen’s twenty-year legal career, she has also worked with Probate Litigation,
Family Law, part-time assistant district attorney for the 452nd District Court handling primarily asset seizure cases. Early
in her career, she was briefing attorney to Justice Marilyn Aboussie. She is licensed to practice in all Texas courts, the U.S.
Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Western
Courts of Texas.
Carmen earned her bachelor’s degree at Texas Tech as well as her law degree, cum laude, from Tech’s School of Law. Her
professional organizations include the Texas Bar Foundation, Tom Green Bar Association, and the National Association of
Counsel for Children. She was also selected for Texas Monthly’s Super Lawyers Rising Stars for 2005.
Her most famous case was that of serving as co-lead counsel for the over 400 children from Warren Jeffs’ YFZ Ranch.
Of her many volunteer and service projects, she has “dedicated a tremendous amount of time serving underprivileged
children.” She has served on the Protect Our Kids Commission, appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the Child Fatality
Review Team, West Texas Boy’s Ranch, Children’s Advocacy Center of Tom Green County, teaches Sunday School, and
works with Youth Ministry at the First United Church of San Angelo.
Carmen is a long-time a member of the Concho Valley Republican Women and was a participant in TFRW’s very successful
Candidate Development Program, class of 2016.
Congratulations to Carmen; her years of professional dedication and service have been acknowledged and rewarded by
Governor Abbott to her appointment on the court.
