Statewide Service Project
First Vice President Glynis Chester and myself have planned
a special statewide service project for our January State
Board Meeting and are encouraging all TFRW club members
to help. January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and
we want do our part to help out these victims by assembling
300 first response backpacks for Traffick911.
To assist with the need for first response backpacks, TFRW
will be assembling backpacks at our January board meeting.
We want every club in the state to be involved, so here are
the two ways your club can help:
1. Sign up for an item(s) using this Sign Up

Please note that you are signing up for multiple items at a
time. For example, toothbrush (24) means you are agreeing
to purchase and provide 24 toothbrushes. Box of fine tip
markers (24) is purchasing 24 boxes of fine tip markers. In
addition, there are a few items that are specific and need
to be purchased using the link given in the signup genius.
The Amazon link with what Traffick911 has picked is in the
description; however, you do not have to purchase from
Amazon. It is just given to use as a guideline to see what
they are looking for.
2. Make a donation to buy supplies. Make checks out to
TFRW, and mail them to the TFRW office with a note
that it is for the service project. This can come from a
club as a whole or members who wish to donate. Please
have all checks to TFRW by December 31 so we can
purchase what we need.
We encourage each club to send members with their items
to the board meeting and help us assemble the backpacks.
However, we know Texas is a big state and that might not
be possible. You can send your items with your district
director to the board meeting or send/ship the items
directly to the TFRW office.

A few ideas for club involvement include: holding a “fill the
manger” at your Christmas party and ask members to bring
items or make a donation or have a blanket making party
and make no-sew fleece blankets for the girls.

Traffick911
Traffick911 is based in Addison, Texas, and exists to free
youth from sex trafficking with a three-prong strategy
of prevention, identification and empowerment.
Traffick911 has identified and/or assisted 900 (and
counting) victims and their work - in close partnership
with law enforcement - has led to multiple state and
federal felony arrests and convictions.
Traffick911 currently serves and has outreach teams in
the following Texas counties: Dallas, Tarrant, Denton,
Collin, Hood, Johnson, Rockwall, Parker, Ellis, Bell,
Williamson, Brazos, Fort Bend, Travis, Tom Green, and
Bexar. They also have a team that brings their program
into the state prison facility for youth (TJJD/TYC) in
Brownwood, Texas, on a regular basis. In addition, they
now have affiliate organizations bringing their youth
program across Arkansas; Corpus Christi, Texas; El Paso,
Texas; Abilene, Texas; and Orlando, Florida, juvenile
detention centers. The Voice & Choice program (direct
victim services) is currently offered in the Dallas/
Fort Worth Metroplex.
In 2017, Traffick911 was selected by the Office of the
Governor in Texas to provide direct services such
as crisis response, case management, and volunteer
advocate program to child sex trafficking victims in
North Texas as a part of a regional multi-disciplinary
team in Dallas and Tarrant Counties. Traffick911 provides
24/7 crisis response to law enforcement and first
responders. A Voice & Choice Advocate is dispatched
immediately to meet with the victim, accompany them
to emergency medical treatment, ensure food, clothing,
emergency shelter, and connection with any other
support needed is provided. Voice & Choice advocates
continue to respond to urgent and emergent needs of
clients as they arise. Since beginning this specialized
service in June of 2017, Traffick911 has served 145 child
sex trafficking survivors with specialized advocacy and
case management services (as of August 2018).
When a Voice & Choice Advocate is dispatched, a first
response backpack is taken to meet with the victim.
Within the backpack are things to help the victim on the
road to recovery and give them a few personal items.
Traffick911 provides 3-4 backpacks per week for victims.
