President’s Message

Leadership Day last month was, to say the least,
February 20 First Day of Early Voting
very eventful! Before the weekend even began,
Cindi McIntyre, with help from Katie Stephens,
was behind the scenes organizing all the printing,
reservations, and inquiries. Carolyn Killebrew
worked with the Sheraton Georgetown Conference
Center to ensure that our attendees were properly
welcomed. Pam Sherrin and Monica Harwig
organized a smooth registration.
Under the expert leadership of Sue De Villez, Leadership Day was launched!
We started the event off with a lively Welcome Reception co-sponsored by
the T.F.R.W. Board of Directors and Bruce Jacobson. Guests networked with
candidates, danced to the retro music of Ready Betty, and enjoyed heavy
appetizers. Saturday morning, we were nourished with a plentiful
continental breakfast, compliments of Dr. Charles Schwertner, before
heading into opening session. We can thank Trey Blocker for A/V at session
and Terry Wilson for the sponsoring the Wi-Fi access code. Cassie Daniel
and Michele Samuelson carefully planned the breakout sessions, and
guests were offered breakouts that were instructive and entertaining.
Our luncheon was all about members; networking, followed by a fashion
show. Amanda Eisner asked Beck Bruun to treat our ladies to a specially
created Republican Red Velvet cake, and Glynis Chester led the fashion
show, themed “What to Wear When the Invitation Says… .” All during
the leadership conference, many of you heard me say, "Don’t leave before
Table of Contents the closing session." Given the overwhelming number of guests at closing
session, (sponsored by Michelle Slaughter) attendees were listening. Paula
Patrons’ Event 2 Dennis asked her best friend Kay McConaughey to join her in discussing
faith and family. Kay brought all three of her sons to join her up on stage.
