Dorothy Crockett Legacy Award
by Theresa Kosmoski, Immediate Past President
[email protected]
Honor a Woman of Courage
At TFRW we know that, while we are striving to move our organization forward, we must
remember to look back and honor those women of courage and commitment who helped
create this opportunity for women all across the state to influence the trajectory of politics
in Texas. The TFRW Dorothy Crockett Legacy Award was developed in 2017 (formerly the
Legacy Leadership Award) to honor those members who helped form the foundation upon
which TFRW continues to thrive today.
The Crockett Legacy Award will be searching for those TFRW members who have been
active in TFRW for at least 25 years and have continued to show their support and loyalty
for TFRW and worked actively to grow our entire organization. We are looking for the
women who took their commitment to a better and more red Texas, steps further than
most, and dedicated their time and talent to our organization beyond the work of their
club to help make us the driving force in Texas politics that we are today. Unlike “10
Outstanding,” which looks at all the ways a woman has contributed to Republican causes,
this award focuses on what a woman has done for TFRW.
Each club may submit one name for consideration. Individuals may also submit a
nomination packet.
The criteria for the Crockett Legacy Award will rely heavily on TFRW commitment and
continued loyalty to our organization. This is not an award aimed specifically for elected
officials – but for those who have spent many years leading in their own clubs, regions, and
on the state level by helping TFRW to enlarge its influence and membership.
The Nominations forms are available on the TFRW website- you’ll need to log in and go to
Documents & Forms, then Awards & Scholarships, and you’ll find it under the Awards to be
presented at the Convention.
