                 Spotlight on Laura Koerner


     TFRW is proud to announce the appointment of Laura Koerner
     to the Texas Veterans Commission by Governor Greg Abbott.

     Laura  was  appointed  to  the  Texas  Veterans  Commission  by  Governor
     Abbott in June of 2018. Serving on this board gives her the opportunity to
     advocate for Texas veterans and their earned benefits.

     She is a former Naval Officer, serving as a Surface Warfare Officer. She
     deployed on several several large ships, including the USS Enterprise,
     helping maintain the ship’s nuclear reactors.

     Laura holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the US Naval Academy and an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the
     Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a certified Project Management Professional. She remains part of
     the Navy family as a Blue and Gold Officer at the US Naval Academy where she counsels, recruits, and interviews
     local candidates on behalf of the Admissions Department.


     Laura enjoys being an active volunteer on boards for military-related groups. She is also in political organizations
     helping elected officials and candidates. In May 2017, Laura was elected Councilwoman, Place 4 for the city of Fair
     Oaks Ranch, Texas, where she is an at-large representative for all city residents.

     Laura Koerner lives in Fair Oaks Ranch with her husband, Mike, a retired Naval Officer, and twin daughters, Alexandra
     and Eva. She is a valued member of the San Antonio Republican Women, serves on their Executive Board, and has
     taken care of technical needs for the club.

     One of the highest honors awarded by TFRW is the
     “10 Outstanding” Award. It is the responsibility of the
     local clubs to nominate someone from their club if they
     have a member they believe should be considered for
     this special recognition. This prestigious award will
     honor ten of these outstanding members of the Texas
