LITERACY COMMITTEE

Club Literacy Chairs

To All Club Presidents:

By now you all have your Literacy Chairs in place and are ready to start this new term with a bang! The three major
Literacy projects TFRW Clubs participate in are:

1. Barbara Bush Literacy Library Project (BBLLP);

2. Mamie Eisenhower Library Project (MELP); and
3. The Dictionary Project.

The duties of the Literacy Chair are outlined in the current and past TFRW Handbooks, and can also be found online
at the TFRW website. Please utilize our website, as there is a wealth of information there. Clubs that participate in
the Literacy programs will earn award points toward the TFRW John Goodwin Tower Award of Excellence and/
or the NFRW Achievement Award.

A new ongoing project for this term will be to canvass all clubs to determine the form of the books the libraries and
schools in their area prefer to receive; for example, e-books or traditional hard back, hand held books. Please email
to me, at your earliest possible convenience, using LITERACY in the subject line:

1. The name of your Club,
2. Your name and contact information, and

3. The name and contact information of your Literacy Chair.

This will be a major beginning of our successful canvassing project and will help to eliminate duplication of effort.

any questions or suggestions you may have. We are also asking for Literacy Committee member volunteers from
across this Great State of Texas!!
