Legislative Day 2019
Welcome 2019 and the 86th Texas Legislature!
With the New Year, comes a new legislative session in Texas.
On Tuesday, January 8th, the Texas Senate, led by Lieutenant

Governor Dan Patrick gaveled in to session with 19 Republicans
this year’s legislature here are a and 12 Democrats. The House of Representatives elected

Lawmakers have until Friday, March 8th to file bills to be considered during the regular session. During the
85th Regular Session a total of 10,672 bills were proposed with 4,960 being passed and 51 vetoed. As of this writing,
over 900 bills have been drafted with many more to come.
