Legislative Report

Democrats are scary. Below are some excerpts from articles and quotes that I found rather traumatizing and hope they motivate all of us to get Republicans to the polls in November.

Barack Obama will likely overwhelm John McCain in campaign spending, if the Illinois senator wins his party's presidential nomination, in what would be the first time in four decades a Democrat would enjoy such an advantage.  He could do it whether he accepts federal campaign- finance limits or raises all the money privately.  Obama has amassed $234 million -- three times more than Republican McCain has raised.

America’s top military commander and chief diplomat in Iraq reported that we are making significant progress there and cannot afford to squander our gains by losing our resolve.  But was anybody really listening?  Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid said, “Is the war in Iraq making America safer?  By all accounts, the answer…is ‘no’.”  The three presidential candidates emerged from testimony by Gen. David H. Petraeus each armed with what they wanted: justifications for staying in or getting out of Iraq.  Sen. John McCain, got the general to repeatedly declare that al Qaeda is a continuing "major threat" — which Mr. McCain says is enough justification alone for a continued U.S. troop presence.  Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton got Gen. Petraeus to acknowledge that U.S. troops were planning to expand their role in the southern part of Iraq because of continued violence, while Sen. Barack Obama said the testimony called for a different standard for success, one that would justify an earlier withdrawal of American troops.

In 2005 the secretary of homeland security Michael Chertoff was granted the power to void any federal law that might interfere with fence building on the U.S./Mexican border.  Mr. Chertoff issued waivers in early April suspending more than 30 laws he said could interfere with “the expeditious construction of barriers” in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas.  More than a dozen congressmen will file a legal brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in late April challenging federal officials' plans to bypass the laws.  They are asking the court to rule unconstitutional the law that gave Chertoff authority to circumvent other laws to get the fence built.

In a speech given by Sen. Barrack Obama, he says he will cut spending by tens of billions of dollars by cutting investment in unproven missile defense systems, by not weaponizing space, by slowing development of future combat systems, and by not developing nuclear weapons.  By clicking this link you can hear this VERY scary 52 seconds for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl32Y7wDVDs
