It is a great pleasure to announce Kindal Wetuski of Austin, Texas is a 2008 Winner of the Dorothy Kabis Memorial Internship. She will be working at NFRW Headquarters in Washington D.C. from June 14 to July 26.  Kindal was nominated by the Lake Conroe Area Republican Women.

Each year three young women receive the opportunity to spend six weeks working at NFRW. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens in their junior year of college or college students age 21 and over, having completed high school but not yet graduated from college. The internship provides housing, round-trip airfare, and a small monetary allowance.

In her application, Kindal wrote, “All I could think about when I found this scholarship was the fact that I could possibly be in D.C. for six weeks during an election year! That would be absolutely epic for me. I have had the opportunity to volunteer for a state representative and I have found that direct democracy is something that I find endlessly engaging. I love being able to help out in any way that I can.”

One of the three people writing a letter of endorsement wrote, “As a worker, Kindal contributes all of her efforts into every shift and is consistently punctual, if not early. She maintains a passionate interest in politics and social issues and never hesitates to defend her ethics or beliefs. She exhibits tenacity in attaining perfection in her work and individually identifies tasks to accomplish.”

Kindal is majoring in Government at UT-Austin. We wish her the best this summer and look forward to hearing her report of her internship.
