Tribute to Women – Intro

I am Mary Mayo – Vice-President of Finance for the Texas Federation of Republican Women.

Congratulations to each of you as you serve in your respective capacities and also, a special thank you to the past officers of TFRW.  They have been outstanding! 

Special congratulations to our new President, Toni Anne Dashiell, and the new board members.  I am looking forward to serving with you during this critical year for our Party.

We have so many special women in this organization of 165 clubs throughout Texas, and we want to honor their commitment and efforts in keeping Texas a strong Republican state.

On behalf of the Texas Federation of Republican Women, it is my pleasure to invite you to our traditional Tribute to Women Brunch to be held the first part of June in conjunction with the Texas Republican Party Convention in Houston. 

The Tribute to Women event is held every two years to honor our members of the Texas Federation of Republican Women.  This is truly a special honor for our members to receive this award from their home club, and to be recognized at the brunch.

At this early date, the specific details regarding location and the time in Houston are still pending,   but will be forthcoming. 

Please discuss this important event with your club members so that everyone can be given consideration for nomination from your club for this wonderful event.

The 10,000 plus, members of the TFRW have been recognized as the most dedicated group of political volunteers in the nation, and it is quite an honor to be nominated to receive the Tribute to Women Award.

Our Clubs have the opportunity to recognize members who have volunteered their efforts within their Republican Women’s organizations, TFRW and the Republican Party through their dedication and commitment.

All members of the Texas Federation of Republican Women, elected officials, and guests, are invited to attend this celebration and recognition, of these outstanding women.  The Honoree must be a member in good standing of a TFRW Club. In order to accommodate our larger clubs, at this time, there is a possibility that each club may have the opportunity to submit up to 4 nominees. 

The logistics of the event are in the planning stages, but it is important to be considering who your Nominees will be.

We will soon have Nomination Forms available for your club to submit along with registration fees.

Clubs should submit biographical sketches of a maximum of 200 words, (typewritten or e-mailed as a Word Document) detailing only TFRW and Republican activities of your Nominees attached to the Nominating Forms.  The bio’s  will be printed as submitted and published in the Book of Honor which all Nominees will receive, as well as the distinguished Tribute to Women Pin. Each Honoree will also be photographed with attending dignitaries. 

The registration fees will cover the cost of the brunch, the book and pin.  Seating will be assigned on a “first received” basis and tables are expected to seat 10.

Again, The Tribute to Women special event will be held in June during the Republican Party State Convention in Houston. 

It is an honor to serve on this board as your Vice-President of Finance.  My position involves the responsibility of raising funds required for the operating budget of TFRW and to make it possible for TFRW to continue supporting political activities and the campaigns of Republican candidates.

TFRW will be having some wonderful fundraising events this year.

I will also have some new additions to our TFRW Store for you, and of course, all proceeds benefit TFRW. Maria Burbridge will be our new Vendor Chairman, so stop by and see us.

I thank you for your commitment to this fine organization, and encourage clubs to plan and hold your local fundraisers in 2008.

I believe it’s really going to be a very motivational year for fundraising.  As Republicans at this point in time, it is important that we remember our foundation and take inspiration from it. 

We will have some suggestions for fundraising events for you in the leadership handbook.   If I can assist you in any way in planning and implementing your projects, please contact me.  We are here for you !
